Our Story

Anthony Brooklere opened his first pharmacy, College Hills Pharmacy, in January of 1968. Located across from the beautiful campus of Birmingham Southern College, the store quickly earned a reputation for exceptional care and service. In November of 1968, Anthony opened a second location, Brooklere Rexall Pharmacy, in Forestdale, Alabama. As the Forestdale store continued to grow, Anthony sold the College Hills Pharmacy to another independent pharmacist and businessman, allowing both locations to flourish. Anthony’s son, Johnny, followed in his father’s footsteps by attending Auburn University’s School of Pharmacy and graduated in 1985. Anthony partnered with Johnny, and together they purchased a second family-owned business, Adamsville Pharmacy, in downtown Adamsville, Alabama.  The Brooklere father/son team combined the two pharmacies in 2003 and built a beautiful new facility to support the growing needs of their customers and community. When the opportunity arose in 2010 to purchase the property and building in Alabaster, Alabama (previously home to Wood Pharmacy), the Brooklere’s added another location to better serve local families.  Continuing their commitment to care and community, the Brooklere’s expanded once again in August of 2015 with the purchase of David’s Pharmacy and Gifts in Sumiton, Alabama.  For more than five decades, Brooklere Pharmacy has remained true to it’s mission: delivering personalized service, building lasting relationships, and improving the health and well-being of the communities we proudly serve.
